My diverse work experience of more than ten years has included working internally for advertising agencies, corporate communications and marketing departments, as well as working independently as a freelancer. I have also had the pleasure of managing design teams.
After high school I decided to betray my parents and friends to attend The Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio. This action quickly turned me from Wolverine to Buckeye, which for those of you who don't follow American college football, is a very gutsy move... and perhaps where my sense of adventure originated.
My junior year in college I took advantage of an exchange program in Groningen, the Netherlands. Although I never quite grasped the Dutch language, I learned about breaking the traditional design rules and unconventional approaches to design from teachers working as professionals in the design community.
Columbus suited me beautifully for many years, but i was craving adventure and moved to New York City in 2004. How to explain NYC? Overwhelming, inviting, tempting, evolving, kind, supportive, structured yet opportunistic. The transition was easy, and the work experience that i gained working for international companies in the health and beauty sector was priceless...
Then in 2007, laptop and pantone book in backpack, I decided to spend a year traveling and working the majestic lands of New Zealand. I was fortunate to partner exclusively with a client launching new lines of organic products and supplemented my journey working on websites for youth hostels, freelancing for an ad agency and various service oriented jobs such as bar tending, managing a hostel and function work.
My journeys and experiences thus far have been amazing, and although working in any country with internet is feasible, there is something special about being close to family and friends, and that is what I intend to do and where I intend to stay. At least for now... i am back in New York City.
Till Then, Cheers.
